Community Micro Lending offers programs, workshops, events and support to connect people to the knowledge, tools and networks they need to bring an idea to life.
Our programs and workshops strengthen financial literacy and entrepreneurial capacity. They are typically run in partnership with community organizations serving communities with unique needs including women who have experienced violence, single parents, low income youth, newcomers and others.
Current and past program partners include: Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society (VIRCS), Bridges for Women, 1Up Single Parent Resource Centre, Metis Nation of Greater Victoria, Songhees Innovation Centre and community centres and associations in the Capital Regional District.
We also refer clients to programs, workshops and events offered by partners and others in our community to help people connect with the support of best fit. Past and current partners include seCatalyst, Groundswell Social Ventures and Rise.
We run training programs that build your financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills. Often run in partnership with community organizations, they may include wrap-around support like coaching, bus tickets, translation and child-care subsidies.
Throughout the year we run one-off workshops that focus on a particular part of running your business. They are held as needed in response to emerging community needs.
We run events to celebrate the community, start a conversation or highlight important information. These are for the whole community.
Interested in starting or growing your business but not sure where to start? We’d love to chat more and learn about you and your goals and connect you with programs and resources in the community that may be a fit.
